Why is it that I simply cannot grasp the euphoria that surrounds the media darlings? I’ll be blunt, I’m not a big fan of Newcastle United, nor will I ever be.
Just when you think Newcastle couldn’t possibly become more ridiculous, what do they do, appoint a washed up, incapable coach. If it was a plot on Dream Team, you would switch off the television in disgust.
Without sounding too harsh, I have always harboured the bromidic belief “Geordies” weren’t the brightest of people, although the passion they display is evident.
Just when you start to feel some sort of affinity, bang, the painful “We deserve the best, we are the biggest in the land like” hits home harder than an Earthquake off the Richter. Quite simply, I find it laughable that to some folk, it is plausible.
What infuriates me is the harebrained expressions the Geordies like to hit us with, “We’d rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0” anybody? Such mindless rubbish cements the belief in my mind, Newcastle are a nothing club, a laughing stock that will never win anything significant.
When will the majority awake to the reality, Kevin Keegan won NOTHING at Newcastle United. Admittedly fast flowing, exciting football was frequent, but did that gain you the Premier League crown, which at one stage you had one hand on with a gaping 12 point lead? Thought not.
Times change, football develops new trends and in my opinion, next season will visibly display the fact Keegan is nothing more than a bum manager that lacks the tactical awareness imperative to succeed in this day and age. Gung-ho, all out attack is no longer a feasible option.
The hatred and bile Allardyce had to contend with from the supposed “Best fans in the world” was frankly disgusting, shameful infact. Why do I think the Geordies prove their own downfall, time and time again? The question I pose is simple; where did the divine right to “be the best” stem from?
Once reality hits home, then and only then, will Newcastle United have the chance to somehow become a well-run, successful establishment. Actually appointing a presentable manager would be a good start, I guess.
Ashley’s distinct lack of a backbone whilst appointing a new manager was cringe worthy, embarrassingly hackneyed. Listening to the fans, who in my opinion don’t have a brain cell between them, was unbelievably foolish, suicidal as it happens.
I’ve become accustomed to the cries of the St James’ Park faithful, they tend to increase in wit, year by year. Sitting back and enjoying watching Newcastle slip further behind, regardless of however much money they waste in the summer, seems the only option. Newcastle United is a club desperately in need of a huge dose of reality, without out, failure will not only prove continual, but will tickle the on watching football fans. Keep it up Geordies, without you, who would we laugh at?

May 13th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Newcastle seem to simply pay players massive wages; I mean who else would want to live in the North-East?
Owen £120,000 a week
Smith £70,000 a week
Viduka £70,000 a week
This is where I see David Moyes’ talent, bringing in players who want to play for the club. Our highest paid player is Yakubu, on £50,000 a week. Says it all. He is as good as every Newcastle striker.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
I am an everton fan and although you make some valid points, i feel that they are pretty harsh mate. I can’t particulary stand the geordies either, and i am certain they won’t be a threat in the next few years because they just waste money and well, are just rubbish! But their fans are superb and do support the club through thick and thin. I dont think its the fault of the fans that they have such high expectations. I think it is the fault of the board and management at Newcastle by not managing the expectation levels. They buy players like Owen who don’t really want to be there, and then expect them to win trophies just because they bought one big player. The only successful player in the last 5 years at Newcastle has been Shearer. Once he went there was no turning back, and it only took one season to see how their over-reliance on a great player has really cost them.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
HAHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAA HA …………….how can you comment on living in the North East when liverpool is such a dump!?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
I suppose the only alternative would be to laugh at yourselves - but then you are really too obnoxious and unfunny to laugh at. I would have hoped that all of the generalised inaccuracies about what “Newcastle fans” really believe (they’re all identical, you know), would have been left to the national “rags” and their brain-dead reporters - but apparently there are people who now read papers like the Sun as well as look at the pictures. Must be the result of being the capital of culture?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Laughing stock!!! Scousers all think they are comedians, all think they are football pundits and all are generally thieves and benefit fraudsters!!! WE may not have the greatest football record on the earth, but our fans are loyal and appreciate good footy!
So please shut up or you might miss out on collecting your benefit!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Collecting a benefit whilst I’m on my way to earning A grades in four A-levels? Good one!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Aye, because all Scousers are members of Mensa. Oh, and I forgot - that legendary wit you always display! We don’t think we are the biggest club in the world. If we are so pathetic, why do knobjockeys like you feel the need to write about us?
As for that 4-3 nonsense, I have never met one time served Mag who would subscribe to it.
Everton. A bug eyed gollum a like manager, fans chucking bananas at John Barnes, “Everton are white” chants, general bitterness at being constantly overshadowed by the proper club across the park.
School of Science? Bore off.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Toonloony, you really live up to the loony part of your name!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
And you think all everton fans condone racism?
Don’t be silly!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
A myopic bin dipping, benefit claiming, smack rat really shouldn’t even bother, but it gives anyone capable of thought a little chuckle.
0% accuracy, 100% consistency, well done son, deh doo, doh, doh, dont dey.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
YOU SCOUSE SCUM! LMAO
YOU CLEARLY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO NEWCASTLE! I HAVE BEEN TO BOTH CITIES AND HAVE TO SAY LIVERPOOL IS A SHIT HOLE!
Toonloony good one mate!
Yes i agree we have not been playing good football but with keegan i dont think we will finish 5th allthough thats his target but will definatley finish in the top 10 but the season after is when will definatley finish in the top 6 no doubt at all!
and Yakubu as good as owen, martins and viduka ??? LMAO! yes he is good but definatley not as good! the only reason they havent scored more this season is due to a few shit players that fat sam wasted money on.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I am sorry, but Yakubu is easily better than all your strikers. No doubts.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Touched a nerve clearly- enjoy mediocrity when it slaps you in the face yet again next season!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
This season has been terrible for Newcastle…and yes its been realy bad for a longtime. The truth is there have been serious problems with the running of the club…Newcastle’s fans make the club but in some situations (or shd i say a lot times) their expectations, high as they are, have not rlly helped the club. Everton has done well to achieve this much whilst maintain good fiscal discipline….but i don’t think Everton fans are justified in laughing at their North-East rivalls. I don’t think Keegan is as technically bankrupt as people make him out to be…he is at least a decent enough manager…and so with a good management shoud do well. its early days yet..and Mike Ashley’s team has not done much by way of goin wrong…if there is anything they have it is to stabilize what was a very shaky Newcastle Boat. Let’s see what happens next season. i don’t think Everton fan will be laughin at Newcastle fans then…
May 13th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
IN YOUR LIVERPOOL SLUMS YOU LOOK IN THE DUSTBIN FOR SOMETHING TO EAT YOU FIND A DEAD RAT AND YOU THINK ITS A TREAT IN YOUR LIVERPOOL SLUMS,

May 13th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
so,joe, youre just a sprog at school then, who knows fuck all about fuck all….the mags ALL know we aint the best or the biggest, you just watch the telly and read yer papers lad and carry on talking their shite for them…i really dont see what axe you lot have to grind with us,i mean, were shite arent we so why even bother.what is funny is reading a blue knobcheese, aving a pop at real fans, just cos they cant compete with their red knobcheeses across the park in what has to be one of the scruffiest holes i have ever been to,i worked in poland and it was smarter than liverpool…the arsehole of the earth, full of deluded cranks and micks.get fucked.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
as a toon fan I disagree we have the potential and we have never stayed away from europe for too long
May 13th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Media Darlings? Thats a good one. Last time I looked we were being slated by every paper going. Its the same media that has you believe that the majority of us expect to be the best or would prefer to lose 4-3 than win 1-0. No one I speak to or know expects that or wants that. What we do expect is players playing for the shirt. Players who know their role in the team. More than anything, we want a team that plays to win, especially when we are faced with a team worse than us. Allardyce set us up to not lose- everytime. See the performances away to Derby and Wigan as prime examples.
Finally, with reference to your jibe at Keegan. Its pretty uncalled for and completely baseless. A ‘quality’ manager like Allardyce would more than likely have taken us down. A ‘wsshed up’ manager like Keegan had us playing some cracking stuff once he restored the players confidence. He also got the best out of Owen, and others who were useless previously. Keegan will always be a legend to us as he took us from the brink of the third division to nearly winning the Premiership. Yes, I know we blew it, but considering where we came from it was a massive achievement. If Keegan can take us from underachivers to anywhere near contenders, we’ll be delighted. We’ve won nowt for decades so no one expects to win anything. Hopefully that clears things up. Don’t believe the Sun or Sky Sports News. We’re not all nutters, the vast majority are incredibly realistic!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Always next season with the Geordies isnt it, almost like our beloved neighbours. Get to Shearer’s bar and down a few, it’s the only way you can avoid depression over your pitiful football club.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
I think the answer to the question posed in the first paragraph is clearly envy and stupidity.
All the good work done by the anti abortion council goes flying out the window when a window licker gets ideas above their station.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Ok I’m a Newcastle fan, I’m not gonna slag you off for an opinion, thats yours to make, and If you had valid reasons for slagging us off then fair play.
Sadly you have made a vital mistake as you must read certain papers to have this bewildered southern sterotyping going on.
First off, the Media hate us, sure some pundits love us on certain shows, but the newspapers hate us!! the Daily mail spouts so much brown stuff about Newcastle and Gordies that it would be considered racist if we were from another country. The Gaurdian is staffed by Mackems and the several other rags generally couldn’t find the truth in an encyclopedia.
On to point two, Real geordies, as in the actual fans, not the pricks that get hand picked on sky sports to make us look like a city of inbred chavs, The real fans Don’t believe we “deserve” to be at the top of the table, We know we have to work hard, and we know freddy shepherd ruined this club and it will take a long time for Ashley to sort it out. Us real fans are prepared to wait, just like you Everton Boys have done after years of midtable.
Point 3, WE WOULD NOT LIKE TO LOSE 4-3 RATHER THAN WIN!!!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Envy of what exactly? Mediociry? Persistent failure? Deluded fans? Take your pick
May 13th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
yakubu…..top player…..they always end up at everton dont they.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
The way Jim White fawned all over the place when Owen signed was pathetic, “Dont these fans deserve it”, it was painful to watch, total embarassment
May 13th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Be proud, you have sucessfully repeated every incorrect Newcastle fan stereotype without the merest hint of irony; We do not demand ‘the best’, nor ’silverwear’ and would any of us rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0 every week. We want a team that we are proud of, that finishes in the top half of the league and plays football the right way. Just to remind you, Keegan may not have won anything with Newcastle but he came a darn sight closer than Moyes has with Everton. He may not be perfect, but he has the fans support becuase he shares our aspirations. Now, if you wish to criticise Newcastle fans for our ‘bile filled’ treatment of Big Sam then I’d appreciate you not proporgating your ‘bile filled’, and seemingly groundless hatred of Newcastle United and its thousands of fans.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Keegan has only returned to pay off a few debts- simple as.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
do you fill your ground every week joe dont think so 52,00 week in week out
May 13th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Here we go - generalisations and stereotypes really irritate, don’t they. All started by someone called Joe who has such razor-sharp wit (Laugh - I thought I’d never start!) and has had a season ticket for 10 years - wow! Had mine 44 years - been through good and bad times, like we all have. Not as many good times as Everton, true - BUT - I could never think of not supporting MY team - regardless. And thinking about support for managers - were all Toffee fans loyal to the last to David Moyes that season when you just avoided dropping into Championship oblivion?
And - Everton 5th = Moyes brilliant, Newcastle 3rd, 2nd, 6th (after promotion) = Keegan a failure??
May 13th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
have a word man
May 13th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
So when is the next protest arranged for? They seem to get funnier as each season passes by
May 13th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
What?, if you ask a real geordie like me, I will tell you that we would rather win 1-0 then lose 4-3, but yeah, we do want to be entertained as well, thats what footballs for, right?
If Newcastle is not a big club, answer this for me please, how come no matter what happens at Newcastle, its always the top story in the newspaper the next day?
Bolton sack manager, Fulham sack manager, not even chealsea sacking their manager got as much media attention as us.
Hold on, ask the names that we were linked with, Mourinho, Ramos, Jol, I could go on and on, what would happen if moyes was sacked, who would you be linked with?????
Newcastle United, big club, enough said!!!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Joe did you mourn that chicken foetus?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

May 13th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Cheers Simon- you’re fellow fans have resorted to abuse not the distinct reality of their club’s predicament, but hey, that’s delusion for you
May 13th, 2008 at 8:41 pm

May 13th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Ok then I’ll guess the chicken foetus was like losing a family member, i’ll not remind you of the great loss.
Enjoy ignorance and you continue to confuse it with arrogance, your life will be brilliant, no matter what the reality is.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Joe - wonderful! Accusing some Newcastle fans of resorting to abuse! Derrr -can’t think how that started!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
how is yakka spakker better than all of our strikers lol i mean wot big previous clubs has he played 4 boro n portsmouth n sum asia sides not exatly ya world class teams where as owen has played 4 pool n madrid - martins inter milan - viduka he’s playin at one now u can write all ya like bout newcastle n u can run ur lil mouths bout gettin in ta the uefa cup but wen it comes down to it we all no u ain’t gonna win it cuz u ain’t got world class players.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
joe have you gone
May 13th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
WOW - Martins has played for Inter Milan. Hey he must be good, remind me of his goal tally this season?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
or nowt more to say eh
May 13th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
FFS this is the biggest Myth going around bar maybe this whole conspiracy with Diana. We’d like to win, WHAT WE DON’T WANT is to be playing shit football and still losing 4-0 like Allardyce had us playing.
point 4, Keegan, I know you Everton boys don’t like many former reds and I don’t expect a rational point about him, he’s already achieved shit loads in his first stint, we were slipping away into the 3rd division and he turned us into premier league runners up, He gave us some amazing nights of football, He’s a class act and people like him are rare, sure he may not win us anything in his 3 year contract, but he brings enthusiasm and excitement with him and after the shit we’ve had to put up with since Bobby was wrongly sacked, well sue us for enjoying it!
Point 5, Allardyce, My god did you watch a single game with him in charge, WE’D BE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP NOW IF HE WAS STILL IN CHARGE! thats how bad he was, the man couldn’t work out where players needed to play, he had players all over the shop and these were decent players, We had No pace, No creativity, No Teamwork, No Tactics, No Passion, He turned what should be a top 10 side into a relegation form side, by playing them out of position and trying to get them to play the Bolton way, Good players can’t play that way suddenly, it almost ruined some of the players. Keegan came in with the same players, he looked at the fixtures and said his aim was to get to 40 points, he did that, The fans didn’t think that was possible cause the players didn’t seem to remember what the goal was. Keegan got the same players playing tactically better, with passion and to a standard a mile ahead of anything Allardyce would ever manage with his stubborn “I’ll do it my way and you players and fans who disagree can get out of my way” attitude. He got him self sacked and if you think differently then I’d debate your intelligence… Which goes onto my final point
Point 6, When you write an article, it’s generally considered bad form, to write valid points then slag off the people your debating like a school child, you end up looking like a bitter person with a chip on your shoulder who would fit in writing for the daily mail.
Well thats all done, Ive gone on a bit, bet you weren’t expecting that much writing from a geordie now were you. One last point apparently lacking the braincells to know whats good for our club and having ambition and dreams would render us laughing stocks to someone we don’t care about in the first place….Oh no however will we get over that…
May 13th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
We are both admiring how pathetic Newcastle fans are; that’s all!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
fuck me,its you again dan,i thought youd been sent to bed……with yer sister.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Joe whats the crack anyway slagging the toon off , nowt better to do like getting behind your team . you got knocked out of europe this season against fiorentina didnt a SCOTTISH team put them out and we all know how good the scots are dont we . HE HE HE
May 13th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
As a scouser, I have a lot of time for Geordies. The ones you meet are generally sound and not too disimilar to ourselves. And their birds are famously filthy, which is a nice touch at 4am in some sun scorched island in your early 20s. Probably.
That little period of football, over enthused by the Sky Nazis, at the end of the 90s though has propelled their collective ego to that of bellwhiff soccer a.m. quoting proportions. Zanyer than a big bag of face painted zany things. But then they could go on about numerous stereotypes about our lot, like for instance us being complete gash for the past twenty years or so. And something about shellsuits and all that shit.
Thats if you believe what is online. I’ll take them as I find them which is sound, apart from the male ear ring thing which I can just about forgive.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Deary me. Coherent, continuous prose from Geordies? What’s next- flying cars?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
To Joe, Obafemi Martins Scored 10 in 24 apperances.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
YOU WANKER!! You know shit about Newcastle and their people…FUCK YOU and your envy towards us! We don’t think we are the best in the world but we have passion, desire and a goal, a realistic one. Anything is possible you cunt! We nearly made it with Keegan so why can’t we now!? If he is as bad as you say then how did he end up managing the full England team!!!???? If I were you I wouldn’t spread my name around as a proud Everton fan because your shit team has only just started to very slowly climb the league! We have finished above you for decades and all of a sudden you are laughing at us! HAHAHA!!!… just because of that euro spot you luckily managed to get you think you can start to talk shit about other teams and slag off Newcastle and THE most loyal fans in the world! (and yes we are the most loyal fans!) You think Everton!!…FFS EVERTON (hahahaha) is better than Newcastle!!?? Damn you’re sad, now look at who is delusional!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Never laughed so much in ages
May 13th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Magpie Ranger…. I will not stoop to your level.
Pathetic.

May 13th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

May 13th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
And, Everton ARE better than Newcastle, the table doesn’t lie…
May 13th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
JOE- Get a life you sad little boy! You are the delusional one even thinking that Everton is better than Newcastle. Your comments make me sick! It’s racists like you that should be shot in the head. You’re lucky I don’t know where you live because I would make my way down there and break your face and shut that load mouth you have!

May 13th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Erm No Joe, 10 from 24 I think you’ll find. Unless this isn’t the same Martins who didn’t play much under Allardyce and then went away to Africa?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Sorry dan, but that would mean we get your ip address aswell, and me being very good at computers, I could do a lot, but would I?, No because i’m not that half hearted, unless you did do that to someone

Oh wait, I am!
Total (Club) 33 (9) 10 1 0
May 13th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
For ONE or I’ll even give you TWO seasons that Everton has ended above Newcastle doesn’t make them better. You have to finish above us at least 4 times to say such a stupid thing. Newcastle has NEARLY ALWAYS ENDED ABOVE EVERTON!!! Look it up and open your blurry eyes you wankers!!! Look at who is the laughing stock!! You’re just another Tottenham…no worse Tottenham is better than you! You just think alike, one or two seasons above us and you think you’re the next big thing!! Fucking exaggerated fans u lot! Look in the mirror..YOU ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK EVERTON !!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
in champions league , dumped out, in uefa dumped out. Lets look at your ups and downs, and as for BIG players they may not want to come to the north east. But when they land in liverpool thats the club they head to,then after comparing the grounds maybe you even finish below LFC and the toon for the best areana to play in. KEEP YA MOUTH SHUT UNTIL YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Ok fair play I looked at the “starts” column only, I can hold my hands up and say Im wrong. I wonder if dan can. somehow Im thinking No.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
I love how people know what wages players are on. You know nothing man. You read what you see in the paper and believe it.
It’s annoying when people say I can’t stand Geordies etc…because all Geordies are the same, are they?
Some comments on here are just pathetic.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
hmmm,we could all do that now couldnt we,wassamatter, dont expect to get slagged off in return for the shite youve given us????
May 13th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Ok, been reading all the posts, I’m a true blue and I gonna be rational with this.
To be honest I’ve travelled the world and met loads of geordies and honestly never met a bad one, all top blokes and nice fellas - never been newcastle so cant slag it off. Liverpool is totally changing and anyone who has actually spent time there will know how hard everyone is working…u shud have seen it 10 yrs ago, before u slate the city.
Oh yeah all the stereotypes about no jobs…very witty -take u long to think of that?
Football - Newcastle in last 50 years won nothing…zero, zip (and dont please say the old 2nd division) - yep u fill out, but ure a 1 city team, if u couldnt fill with 1 club in ure city then u shud give up. EFC, 36,000 av att with cap 40,000 - not bad considering are old ground is falling apart, about 3,000 seats are restricted views and all the away fans dont actually fill their section.
Keegan, don’t rate him, was cr*p at City, rubbish at England, but cud turn it around - good luck.
Personally Everton have turned a corner and can honesty say we have a bright future and next season we actually have stuff to play for. Granted only won FA cup in last 15 yrs, but still more chance than Newcastle.
Personally, wish geordies all the best, hope u do well, but u wont have Owen, wont have Viduka and I reckon wont have a trophy this time next year.

JP- I’m literally petrified, shaken to the core. Oh wait, no I’m not. Come back when you can speak coherently you philistine
May 13th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Did you really just write this? It’s as old as the hills - nothing new there, just the same old tired and ignorant shite. You buy into the rubbish written about nufc fans in the press then suppose it’s actually the opinion of the people who’ve been stereotyped. I’d have thought someone from your part of the country would have radar for that kind of thing, not buy into it wholesale. Of course nobody thinks they have a divine right to anything, but everyone lives in hope - that’s half the point of football isn’t it?
As for the generalised comments from you and others about the north east and the people from there - just sad really, not clever, about as funny as wet fish. I hope you try a lot harder in your A-levels because that kind of thinking is all F’s or whatever you get these days.
The north east, including Newcastle is a great place to live - can’t wait to move back there in a couple of years. Google North East England and you’ll see what I mean.
The chompers from nufc on here are no better than you and some of your pals on here either. Why the need to brand whole populations as stupid, scaggies or whatever. It’s obviously not true in either case and you all just make yourselves look more stupid than the people you’re slagging off. Is the irony lost on you?
The comment about the wages is spot on by the way, but the owner, board and manager at nufc haven’t had a chance to do there own thing in the transfer market yet, so best keep the criticisms for later when you’ve had a chance to see how they do. As for your bloke, he might have googly eyes but I think he’s a cracking manager and credit to the Everton board for giving him the chance to build his squad.
Anyway, try and be a bit more original and a bit less mindless with your comments eh, instead of just regurgitating a load of crap about people and a place that you seem to know very little about. Then you might get some reasonable discussion instead of causing a clueless slapfest. If you can’t manage that, maybe you should just leave it and concentrate on the exams.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Phil MC - Now that is a decent post from a respectable Everton fan not like your gay friend the racist on the other side of the road
I respect your view and opinion, although JOE DIRT should better clean his mouth because it looks I am gonna have to do it for him.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Is this supposed to be an article about Football or one persons slander of a region?
“Just when you think Newcastle couldn’t possibly become more ridiculous, what do they do, appoint a washed up, incapable coach. If it was a plot on Dream Team, you would switch off the television in disgust.”
You could be right that Keegan coming back might be a mistake.. you of all clubs should know after taking back Kendall for a 2nd time.(that was a great success was’nt it..)
“What infuriates me is the harebrained expressions the Geordies like to hit us with, “We’d rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0” anybody? Such mindless rubbish cements the belief in my mind”
Actually no.. the “Hair-Brained” expression would be yours and yours alone.. the one that KEEGAN has regularly been thought of having is “We’d rather WIN 4-3 than win 1-0”.. Football is as follows, for Owners.. a Business, for Players.. a Sport and for supporters.. ENTERTAINMENT!
“next season will visibly display the fact Keegan is nothing more than a bum manager that lacks the tactical awareness imperative to succeed in this day and age. Gung-ho, all out attack is no longer a feasible option.”
Hardly a shock statement considering Keegan himself has openly admitted in the past his tactical nuance is lacking. You should’nt need to look to next season to see that, if you really knew your football you’d be aware that Keegan played Gareth Southgate as defensive midfielder for England against Germany..
“Once reality hits home, then and only then, will Newcastle United have the chance to somehow become a well-run, successful establishment.”
Reality.. despite the shambolic years Geordies have recently endured they can point out that they’re club has managed to make it past the first group stage of champions league football and also reached the semi-finals of the Uefa cup. Hardly impressive I’ll agree but thats more of a European impact Everton can point to recently. They also support a club that despite it’s upheaval’s and poor turnout in the league of late still make it into the Worlds top 15 richest clubs..almost successful I’d say. I’m still trying to work out where Everton place on that list..and yet an Everton supporter has the cheek to call Newcastle “a nothing club”… Ha!!!!
There’s a reason why you have’nt got the likes of Owen on £120,000 a week.. because your not a big enough club to be able to afford it.
As Arsenal are finding out now, football more than ever is a business and if you cannot compete financially with your rivals you’ll have your best talent regularly poached. You could’nt keep Rooney from Man Utd,whilst Newcastle DID keep Shearer from them. Infact if you remember, Rooney even admitted himself if Man Utd had’nt come in for him he WOULD have gone to Newcastle United. Says a lot about “nothing” clubs right there does’nt it..
Enjoy your “top 5″ finish while you can, over the next few years Newcastle, Spurs and Villa are going to pull ahead of you whilst your supporters carry on bleating about lack of funds..
May 13th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Yakubu isn’t that great or he would have gone elsewhere
Martins is like a much better, he’s younger and faster, has more skill, and i know he hasn’t got as higher goal scoring record but he’s improving all the time. Yakubu is 30 something, hes at his best now which isn’t that amazing, he’ll leave in a season or two for money and your fickle fans will forget him without hesitation. Martins will improve. Now that we have compared the nigerian strikers.
Owen hmm or andy “couldn’t hit a barn door” johnson. I think we all know who we would all prefer.
You won’t break the top 4 because liverpool will always attract the players you want, cos they hav champs league. Your ground is a complete joke, its like a corigated iron shed, which co-incidentally you can’t consistantly fill.
And you have no rivalry with the reds down the road, its all a little too friendly. You can barely call ur matches derbys can you anymore cos ur all mates. Unlike up here where its like war…
I think most people know what im saying!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Hey you pay Michael Owen 120k- good for you! And you finished where in the league exactly?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
to joes benifit reply — as a student are you not on a grant or hugh loan, or a bursary all money that is not yours by earning it, is it not. So when your 4 A’s get you a job in McDonalds, I will have a cheese burger ha ha.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:15 pm

May 13th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Well your generally bad view of Geordies based on what you seem to have read in the press, The fact you basically called over a 100,000+ Newcastle fans idiots barely sharing 1 braincell when I think Ive proved that wrong with a fairly valid post. And Also the fact you ended what could have been a valid article about what you didn’t like about toon fans into what seemed like nothing more than a childish dig at a stereotype that whilst it does exist in a few chavs who manage to get on sky sports every year you basically slandered every one of us.
Now I have nowt against any Scouser, Hell I love visiting mates in L’Pool it’s a good crack, but your article is equal to me writing a long essay on why kenwrights stingyness will force moyes to leave, and following it up by saying, Oh and also I don’t like those bin dipping toddler murderers who’d steal anyhting not tied down, (I DONT THINK THAT BY THE WAY USING IT AS A STEREOTYPING EXAMPLE)
Your article was about as pointed as you could make it, and It’s pretty unjust reflection of Newcastle and the Geordies…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
To that fuckwit hoggy Newcastle is a one horse town mate that’s why your crowds are so big, there are two big teams in this city knobhead.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
HALLA -
Seriously the merseyside derby is NOT a friendly derby - granted its no oLd Firm but it aint friendly.
As for wont break into top 4 - erm… we already did that mate. OK we f*cked up big time when we got there but still did it.
Ground, old - but has history - u gotta remember Goodison is our 2nd ground - we won a league title at Anfield b4 the scum even existed.
The rest of yer - well half u have points. EFC dont attract the likes of Torres coz we’re not in Champs league and not loaded either or in London. Fair point But Newcastle, spurs and villa pulling away…dont make me laugh, newcastle have had an average team for a while and u need about £40m to make top 6. Villa…who?? Spurs…ahem may have apoint there…..doh
May 13th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Halla my friend -
Yakubu is 24, Martins is 22. Yakubu was wanted by Chelsea in January. If you read through the rest of the site, you will realise that we do dislike Andy Johnson too, and hope he will leave in the summer.
We may not break the top four, but at least we are challenging them; you on the other hand were only aiming to finish above Sunderland.
So, having rivalry where fans are murdered is good hey? Well, I will leave you to decide.
You only support Newcastle because you have no other options. Get real, because for now, you are a struggling mid table side; in with the likes of Middlesbrough and Tottenham.
Keep up the fight!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
JOE- “when you can speak coherently you philistine” HAAHAHAHA did you just look that up in the dictionary you fucking racist!?? Damn you really are SAD aren’t you?? Now that I think of it, did your mummy play with your tiny cock when she wasn’t getting it from daddy? Is that why you are so mentally disturbed and delusional? I know these things have long term effects and now I can see with my own eyes. I feel sorry for you Joe Dirt but hey keep believing the shit you do if it makes you smile. A sad little boy like you needs that shit for his self esteem. If I were you I would kill my self before I do or I would study hard on my A- levels and leave deep and interesting conversations about man stuff to adults you gay little racist.. now go on and study before your mummy punishes you again!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
As an Evertonian, I am embarrassed by this dumb article. I can’t believe you generalised about Geordies having low intelligence, that actually made me chuckle; not because I agreed with it but because it was so ignorant and unfounded. LOL Do me a favour and don’t publish your dross again mate, Everton don’t need idiots like you representing us. Do fuck off Joe.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
some good comments from both sides, but lets not get into the our city is better then yours thing, we are both from deprived “Northern”
(thanks to the ignorance of the south) cities, but both are making great progress.
Now for the football stuff.
We can’t question other peoples commitment to each other’s clubs, the only thing we can go on is the past, which recently hasn’t been hugely successful for both teams, but in two months its a new season and we can do the fighting where it belongs, on the pitch
May 13th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Joe, i think this argument will be resolved next season. Im not saying that we will set the world alight but im pretty sure we’ll finish ahead of you. You also have a bit of a chip on your shoulder about newcastle which if you’ve been there you will know is unjustified. You’ll have seen the fans passion and i know that you’re jelous that your team does not have anywhere near as much potential. Frankly i think your insecure about your team and worried about next season when we are cruising ahead of you.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
kenny,is that you?bill kenwright…yer greedy scouse twat….theres only one team in liverpool…..and they play in rrrrrrred……ha ha ha…to dan…..tottenham will finish above u and the toon…….viva la viola…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Im an Evertonian, I personally dont have too much of a problem with Newcastle (my housemates a newcastle supporter) but what I have just read from JP is the most ill informed, idiotic load of rubbish I have read, and I once read the Daily Mail, (by accident)!
“We have finished above you for decades” really? what about the 60s, the 70s, the 80’s?!
“We nearly made it with Keegan so why can’t we now!? If he is as bad as you say then how did he end up managing the full England team!!!????” Erm Steve McLaren. Not saying Keegan a bad manager, domestically hes been excellent, but that is surely the worst way to argue a point, no?
“THE most loyal fans in the world” I once again would refer you to when Newcastle were in the 2nd tier, where were “The most loyal fans in the country” then? oh right, we’re sweeping the past (and the future) under the carpet.
“If I were you I wouldn’t spread my name around as a proud Everton fan because your shit team has only just started to very slowly climb the league!” Erm right, not even worth bothering starting to take this apart.
Anyway, back to the article. He makes some good points, some bad. But the fact of the matter is he’s hit the nail on the head when he says that some reality is needed at Newcastle. Times have changed since you could buy your way to the top, ala Keegan’s 1st spell, or Blackburn. Everton know this, and have built gradually, and to keep in contention with the likes of big spending Spurs, Man City, and dare I say it, Newcastle has shown how good a manager Moyes is. Keegan now needs to show how clever he is. He’s got definite questions to answer. Can he organise a defence (vital for Premiership success these days)? Can he still talk players into coming to Newcastle despite another bottom half finish, no trophies in decades, and no Shearer and potentially no Owen? We shall see in time…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
First of all if Yakubu was ‘better’ than our strikers he would have been playing for us instead of Smogland and you would never have signed him on a piss poor little contract.
Secondly if you think Michael Owen would rather live in the ar@ehole of the country rather than Wales and Northumberland you are severly deluded.
Do NUFC fans think we have a god given right to be at the top of the table? no most would be chuffed to finish in Europe. We are are the biggest club in the North East though, you arent even the biggest club in Liverpool.
This is a very poor piece of journalism IMO. It totally focuses at offending the fans of another club. It is a shame as I hold most Everton fans in high regard. You seem to suscribe to the usual pathetic and widely inaccurate comments from the Southern based national media who are envious of the size and stature of our club and hope that we will continue to be badly managed. Unfortunatly for them, and you, the dark days of Fat FS are gone and so is his final curse Big Sam.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Unbelievable how quick everton fans forget where they’ve come from. Don’t get used to those heady heights of 5th place, winning Keegan’s ‘other premier league’. Newcastle fans took it for granted a few years ago and it slipped away from us.
You’ve been lucky this season with injuries, whereas bad injuries problems have been ONE of the main factors (notice im not blaming it on just this) for our drop out of the top half.
i’m not saying that we would definitely still be up there if owen hadn’t done his knee and Given hadn’t become an overnight sicknote since that west ham game, but if you guys dont add enough to your squad in the summer and suffer a similar injury crisis to us, then you wont last either. and i will smile.
The only reason you finished 5th this season is because you played to the absolute peak of your potential combined with (some) good fortune and teams like tottenham underperformed.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
“Secondly if you think Michael Owen would rather live in the ar@ehole of the country rather than Wales and Northumberland you are severly deluded.” Did he not play for Liverpool?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Joe - you complete plonker!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Oh lordy this is getting a bit heated!!! I have nowt against Everton, Liverpool or David Moyes (except he looks like an alien!!!) What i find offensive is a school boy spouting about a whole part of the country and a football team he really knows nothing about. I just get the feeling that he is paraphrasing an article from the daily mail or some other rag beause he feels it is the thing to do!!! Howay man, get a life and watch some old video’s of Newcatle playing under Keegan the first time around, they came out when you where in infant school or nursery so I would hazzard a guess you have never seen the fantastic football played by “the entertainers”. If you do this you may realise why we are so excited and hopeful that smoething big will happen this time around. You do this or just accept you are a biggotted idiot child with no idea what the hell you are talking about!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Lucky with injuries; are you joking???
Cahill Out
Arteta Out
Vaughan Out
AJ Out
Van De Meyde Out
Baines Out
Howard Out (Start of Season)
Lucky indeed…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Good fortune- like the endless amounts of penalties awarded or the cracking refereeing decisions? Idiot
May 13th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Everton have made the uefa cup… WOW, its not like you’ll win it is it?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
“You’ve been lucky this season with injuries, whereas bad injuries problems have been ONE of the main factors (notice im not blaming it on just this) for our drop out of the top half.” What about the injuries which basically wrote off Artetas 2nd half of the season? Cahill’s injuries at the start and end. Osman’s and Pienaar’s, which left us with an incredibly uncrative Neville and Carsley CM? Vaughan’s which wrote off a very promising season for him? Johnson’s which left him short of confidence as Yakubu banged them in, and stole his place? Baines’ which mean we had (a very good) CB playing LB most of the season.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Halla, it’s not like you have EVER won it is it?
At least we are making progress on a shoestring budget
May 13th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Awww the money card, and you wonder why u don’t get investment..oh yeah its cos ur going no where and have reached your potential, Villa deserved to be in there not you. U play boring football, boring players, boring manager. Yep and we did win the Fairs Cup A.K.A the UEFA Cup in ‘69 so there ya go.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
i feel like an old man laughing at how you think you have it bad with injuries…. HA! you havent seen an injury crisis until you’ve supported newcastle. go on physioroom.com where they keep a record of the premier league injuries, and we’ve been far and away top of that league for the past 4 seasons.
you’ve got exactly the same amount of injuries as we have right now and we consider ourselves injury free.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Bit short of facts here so let’s have a few.
Disgraceful treatment of Allardyce?
Older Everton fans will remember Harry Catterick being spat on by his own fans - I don’t think we ever stooped to that.
Washed up manager coming back? Yes he did, and his name was Kendall. I think the jury is still out on KK.
Racism? I don’t believe Everton are racist these days. But they certainly were for a very long time after other clubs had been signing non-white players.
Compare the cities? Both proud northern industrial centres coming to terms with life after their principal industries have gone. No stereotypes please.
Look guys - I know we sold you Neil Macdonald and Marc Hottiger, but you sent us John Bailey! Truth is we both have fans who support their team, rather than pestering the parents for the trendiest shirt of the moment. So let’s give it a rest and join in slagging off the glory-hunters.
Cheers
jon
May 13th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Dan Im a blue from merseyside and I think you are a borderline TW@T. Generalising about a whole city of people like that is just foolish. If you have spent any time outside of liverpool you would understand the reputation that scousers have been given by others. Yes there are knob fans of Newcastle but have you looked around goodison (worse still our travelling fans) lateley? Not every bloke is a proper legend. We have some total knobs who support us.
I also feel the same about all the geordies who paint us scousers with the job dodging/fighter/giro claimant brush. You fellas need to educate yourselves more.
Crap article, no substance, hope all you geordies dont think we are all like this imbecile.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
KENNY ONE BIG CLUB LIVERPOOL NO UZE FUCKWIT
May 13th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Boring football?
How many goals have you scored this season?
Hmmm we have scored 10 more than you; surely goals are exciting?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
“U play boring football, boring players, boring manager.”
Have you watched us this season? Arteta, Pienaar, Osman, Cahill, Yakubu and lately Fernandes are incapable of playing boring football. It may not be Newcastle mid 90s yet, but we’re developing.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
yes ,we have when it was called the inter city fairs cup in 1969,beating inter and rangers on the way…it was changed to the uefa in 1975 to allow more than one team per city in….no doubt cos you lot would av had no chance to get in it would you…..anyway dan,u still sucking cock for baccy down at the pier head on wednesday nights???
May 13th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Well said STEVE
May 13th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Dont bother rising to Joes bait
Just trying to wind us up and some of us are bitting.
Cant argue with people like him, take a step back, deep breath and remember who we are as fans and a club.
(then remember who they are and what fans they are)
May 13th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
The article has become more of a city slanging match than the actual content within it! Lets face it, Newcastle aren’t the team they where a decade ago and it will take at least 2-3 years for the revival of ‘King Kev’s’ revolution to be implemented successfully. With a whole new defence and a few decent wingers/dogfighters Newcastle could reclaim a European spot in a few seasons, but at this current moment Everton are far more superior in terms of the style of the football and better quality players. However, i do believe Newcastle fans are up there with the best fans within the Premiership with the likes of Liverpool, Everton, Portsmouth etc.
Disregarding the article itself, has anyone ever atteneded Newcastle Uni and is it worth applying to next year?
May 13th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
We have players with futures too, look at our youngsters- Milner, N’zogbia, Taylor, Enrique.. all coverted players wanted by most of the top teams. We are developing too aswell. Look, the take over has not ran all that smoothly..but we have financial backing and if you look at chelsea for example that can take you from next to nothing to title challengers!
So all I can do is keep the faith.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
PETE- “If I were you I wouldn’t spread my name around as a proud Everton fan because your shit team has only just started to very slowly climb the league!” Erm right, not even worth bothering starting to take this apart.
- Yeah mate don’t even try to answer that one because I bet that ain’t the most ill-informed and rubbish you have read! Hahaha you know that you crave to have the potential Newcastle posses hence the negativity towards us loyal fans that just bide by our own business until a tosser like Joe over here comes along and sprays racist comments all over the web as if it were Christmas! OK maybe not in decades but definitely in the last ten years or so Newcastle have maybe ended once or twice below Everton and that his reality! Face it! The same goes to Europe, Newcastle reached the second group stage and been in the Champions league more than once. Been in Uefa for ages and reaching very close but fucking up near the end, reached the FA Cup final more than once and been runners u to the league before also! So PETE before you think what I talk is bullshit sit down and take notice that Newcastle IS BIGGER than EVERTON!! You could say Everton is progressing, why not?… from being at the lower end of the table for ages to suddenly being in the top six is impressive, but not very good if you don’t stay in the top six for a long time to really get noticed. Newcastle have been in the top six for ages only since Sorry Souness dragged us down have we had a bad two years or so. With Keegan back, and yes Keegan because he knows Newcastle inside out and has a real desire to put things right will we go climbing up the league again to our rightful sop in the top six. Don’t hate Newcastle if we push you down the league next year
May 13th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Joe,
I’m a lifeling Everton fan and dropped by this website by chance from newsnow.co.uk. I agree that Everton will have a better season than the geordies next year, I also agree that Keegan won’t be a long-term success, but that’s up for debate and we won’t know for a while tho will we.
But what I will say is I’ve been visiting Newcastle for years - since we beat them 4-0 on boxing day back in 88 I think. Yeah, they are not the slickest bunch, but they are not brainless morons like you portray. I live in London now so can speak in an unbias manner, the two cities are quite similar, honest, down-to-earth and hard-working.
It annoys me to hear a young upstart trying to shame another set of fans and trot out the usual tabloid rubbish about NUFC wanting to win 4-3 etc, it just isn’t true.
Do yourself a favour, concentratre on what’s going right at OUR club, from now on. If you want to just rile a few people and slag them off then their are loads of teen-forums for you to get your kicks.
Bry
May 13th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Why is a supporter of such a big club as Everton bothered about little old Newcastle.
Get your shell suit on and die cunt
May 13th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Ive been supporting the toon for over thirty years and have seen plenty of ups and downs in that time, more downs than up without a doubt but i wear the black and white with pride and always will.It always makes me smile when some spotty little pubeless prat tries to write about something they have no understanding of.My best mate is a bluenose and played in you youth and reserve sides in the eighties and he was embarassed when i emailed you little rant.Your comment about losing 4-3 rather than win 1-0 is just a little boy reading the papers, dont they teach you not to copy other peoples work at school joe.We all know we arent going to win the league next season but KK will take us in the right direction and a cup is not out of the question but whatever happens there will be fifty plus thousand Geordies shouting the boys on stop listening to the media mate and concentrate on supporting your own team, the real fans dont need to slag off other clubs.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
As rightly pointed out in the past”history brushed under the carpet”.. just like Evertons “European Cup” success. The majority of players could’nt give a monkeys what you’ve won before, they’re more bothered about where they’re next pay cheques coming from.
Also, quick point don’t believe for one minutre your actually “challenging” for 4th spot… your exactly the same number of points behind Liverpool as Liverpool are from Man Utd.. and we’d all agree that was a challenge Man Utd were hardly quaking in they’re boots over was it.
You guys honestly see yourselves able to keep ahead of the chasing pack without being about to spend in Transfers/ Wages for long?? I know you guys are trying for the new stadium which would help you out a lot on that front but until then you’ll be hard pushed. Villa are already pushing you this year, Spurs have got a squad thats finished in 5th twice out the last 3 seasons and then there’s Man City, god only knows how well/bad they’ll do next year now..
May 13th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
I love going to liverpool on the piss i have been on many stag weekends there its a good night out . JOE AND KENNY try newcastle ya might change your minds
May 13th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Everton Have no money AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
May 13th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Newcastle are only big in the NE bet if I went to Scandinavia or the US I’d be hard pushed to find any Newcastle fan. Yakubu as scored more goals than any of your strikers in the Prem and he went to African Nations remember? You haven’t won anything since 1955 and probably never will. Oh, and don’t tell me you wouldn’t want to be in UEFA cup because Keegan already said he wants to finish in top 5 ha ha least he’s got a sense of humour
May 13th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Fernando -09 - I respect your opinion. And yeah mate go to Newcastle’s Uni it is very impressive and the girls are just lovely
I just wish I could have gone!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I’m a Newcastle fan, and I reckon the posts on this article reveal that Geordies and Scousers have loads in common - both have hate-filled, fact-dodging, belligerent, unreasonable fans who don’t think before bashing away at the keyboard in the hope a sensible sentence comes out. And both have the odd fans who make valid, balanced points, amazingly enough…

“Newcastle are only big in the NE bet if I went to Scandinavia or the US I’d be hard pushed to find any Newcastle fan” ? I think youll find Newcastle Utd is a much bigger brand than Everton overseas!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
but that could quickly change with no european football!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
This article(and most of the replys) shows me that not all supporters need to graduate from elementary school. and that goes for both cities.
I was living in Liverpool while I went to LJMU in 2001/2, and I got several job offers within shipping, but I refused and moved back home. It had nothing to do with Toffees or Pool fans, but all to do with the city itself, and the crime rate there. Its a good place for a holliday or watch footy and drink beer, but I wouldnt live there if I had any choice…
But; I think Moyes is one of the most respectable managers in the UK at the moment, and nobody can claim that he isnt. I like Everton for the fact that they are struggling their way every year in the shadows of Pool, but they just get on with the job, year after year. When that is said: You cant live on bread alone. You must also have some happiness in your life, and thats where KK and the Toon comes in. I’m happy with him running my club at the moment, and Toffees like you are happy that he doesn’t win the league. So everybody is happy…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Cheers Jp! Will hopefully be able to go there in a year or so, just need to gain positive feedback from the majority of people considering i live in Liverpool! I hope to find the new Cheryl Cole up there!
haha!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Is Liverpool your second team hoggy you sad twat.Bet your in Gray’s every Saturday night trying to pull one of those good looking lasses you have up there.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Alba: come on mate, your not about to tell me about the swathes of Everton supporters around New York are you. The one thing both Newcastle and Everton have got in common to be proud of is at least having support from they’re own area’s!!! I love seeing signs saying “Liverpool/Man Utd supporters-Welcome to Merseyside/Manchester” …
No, we don’t want Uefa Cup.. it’s not our devine right but at least we try to aspire to be better than that.. which is why that comment from Keegan recenty about “trying to win 5th” actually pissing some supporters off..
May 13th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Alba- Don’t go as low as JOE please don’t. Of course we want to be in Europe, what team wouldn’t!?? What we don’t do is brag about it like a spoilt little school girl. FFS some of you guys need to grow up! Before I saw this SHIT ARTICLE I actually wanted Everton to do well in Europe to show that there are teams outside the Top 4 that are capable of achieving things…now I don’t feel the same towards Everton. I would be extremely surprised if you progress anyway but before I read this I was on your side for a while. NEWCASTLE WILL BE BACK IT’S ALL JUST A MATTER OF TIME!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Who would expect to find anyother serious fans outside of the UK. They aren’t fans, they are neutrals with poor leagues in their own countries. NOT A VALID POINT ABOUT OVER SEAS SUPPORT!
May 13th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
fuck you you miserable scouse cunt
May 13th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Cheers for replying JP. I’m not defending Joe in slagging off Newcastle as a city or the intelligence of the fans/natives. We all get worked up about our club, and get excited through the good times, and get down through the bad.
Ok anyway onto your points about Newcastle in the 90s, and everton now. yes Newcastle WERE top 2 in the premiership for a while, yes they reached an FA Cup final (Everton won it in 95), and yes they did do ok in the Champions league. But surely this is all as irrelevent as Evertons all conquering team of the 80s, which probably would have won the European Cup without Heysel?! It’s in the PAST now. Times have changed. Everton are progressing the right way, and it will be interesting to see how Newcastle progress now. The fact that you were reasonably successful in the 90s doesn’t make you a bigger club than us, but every fan has their way of measuring how big a club is… history (everton), money (newcastle), stadium (newcastle) and current team (everton). So we’re probably on a par these days, but this is a big summer for both clubs. Can Moyes/Keegan make the right signings? Will Keegan find a formula for getting the best out of his players? it will be an interesting two months.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
oooooooooo KENNY truth hurts eh
May 13th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Your right Gareth but you must admit it gets abit annoying when someone who is sti using acne cream tries talking football.Seems to be the trend to have ago at Newcastle.I know we make ourselves easy targets at times but how many of these people are going to crawl out of the woodwork.A couple of half decent seasons, but still no trophies and this bluenose thinks they are world beaters
May 13th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Wow, someone has started a war between scousers and geordies. Bit of a cheap shot to publish an article like this one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any more inflammatory except those aimed at our distinguished neighbours (the shite). Hope you are a bit red faced Joe, you should be, and I’m an Evertonian.
I think we are both sides victims of media stereoptyping and plenty of the comments on here show that. Must say I frequently have a good moan about the media love in with you geordies when we are treated to saturation coverage of your latest drama, but I suppose they do make you all look like a bunch of teds so they don’t really do you any favours. Like us you are not the stereoptype but a vast dynamic and diverse population, like in any city.
I’ve not been on this site before just got the link from a news site and don’t think I’ll be coming back in a hurry.
May 13th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Fernando -09- HAHA! You just might find her! There’s a hell of a lot to choose from when you do find the New Cheryl Cole ask her if she has a twin sister and you know who to email
Good luck with your application mate hope you’re lucky.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
As a Newcastle fan from Denmark, i have to ask… What is the point of this article?!?!
You Sir are hopefully your average toffee fan, you are a sad man and your views rather tells me that you are as ill informed as you are ill educated. Your article stinks of generalisation that would be considered racism had the geordies been of a different culture than you own!
I have always liked Everton as a club, and i have hope that you guys will breach the top 4.
As to Newcastle, we have had some great form under Keegan after we got our games against the top clubs out of the way. We have allot of financial muscle, but i cant see how you need to make that into a bad thing… Envy?… We will hopefully be up there along with yourself next year, and the players we get linked with are certainly exciting. So get over yourself and for the sake of the fans of Everton FC… Stop posting will you?
May 13th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
My other points were valid though you haven’t questioned them. And if you consider yourself a big club you have to consider outside support as well Crystal Palace are a big club in Croydon nowhere else. And JP the only reason I wrote this was because most of the replies from you lot were pish and taking the mick out of Everton. If you lot going to do it expect it back.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Pete- No doubt it will be interesting and it is refreshing to read your comments unlike some mindless fans posts up here. Everton is on the up and Newcastle is on the up again. I can’t wait for next season and I hope it will be a good one for both of us, just hope to snatch that Euro Spot before you guys
May 13th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Good comments Pete and spot on to mate.We can argue all day about which is the biggest club.Next season is a huge one for us,KK may not be the best tactically but the man lives and breathesthe club and that can only be a good thing. As for your boy i think he has done an unbelievable job for you with very little money.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Well said Mr Titmus
May 13th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Well Stoke are going to get 4th spot next season anyway so this whole argument is floored
hahah
May 13th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Haha we’ll see! IN JOE JENNINGS WE TRUST!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Stereotype an Evertonian:-
1) Curly wigs complete with tash
2) Shell suit
3) Tyre Iron for nicking wheels
4) Favorite name - Terry
5) Majority look like the monkey that is Wayne Rooney
6) You’ve got a ferry that crosses the shit river known as the Mersey.
7) Capital of Culture (what fucking culture!)
Muppets - Try slagging off Liverpool fans and leave the Geordie nation well alone. Feel free to come to the proper North for some fresh air. Tossers!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Sure it gets annoying Exiled Geordie, but while it’s within our rights to point out he’s talking out of his arse some people need to avoid responding with equally stupid, inaccurate and offensive replies - otherwise how can we complain about the rubbish he came up with?
May 13th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Halla point taken! ha ha
May 13th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Your right mate
May 13th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Rob… And that was where you where wrong mate… I live in Denmark Scandinavia, and NUFC are VERY big over here on par with Arsenal and Chelsea but after Liverpool and Man Utd. We have Toons of Denmark supporters club (Of which im a proud member) we have pups dedicated to the toon and Newcastle shirts are common in sports retailers… I know for a fact that the Toon is very popular and Sweden and Norway as well, so try to look into things before you post mate, it would make you look less ill-informed.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
I think we should stop fighting with each other, ignore joe and co. and concentrate on slagging off both out our rivals liverpool and the dirty mackems!
Seriously I don’t care what this is all about… its all opinionated banter and some people need to lighten up.
Newcastle and Everton both have different strengths.
Two good cities
Both Have potential
End Of Argument really
And to all those people shit stiring get a life yeah.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Yeah agreed. I should no better than to get involved with pettiness like that. But blimey some of the stuff you lot came out with did wind me up. Lesson learned. Ignore the bullsh*t.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Sorry Rob… You where quoting it… FOrward my post to whoever wrote it in the first place… Cheers mate
May 13th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I got so sick of my smack rat mother bringing me up to be the scouse equivalent of a mackem that I had to fuckin run away from them on holiday!!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Joe- Way to brag about the A’s you are getting in school, because you obviously are learning nothing about football at whatever University you attend. Keegan plays attractive, attacking football, and the Premiership benefits from his presence. Compare that to Fat Sam, who buried himself by failing to understand the culture at NUFC and being too inflexible to win anyone over. That’s not even mentioning his infuriating team selections and negative approach that destroyed the confidence of nearly every player at the club.
While your blog entry clearly inspired quite a few emotional responses, it is dead wrong on all the main points, and anyone who paid attention to Newcastle United’s season this year would see the difference that KK makes to a team. The man won 138 games in less than 5 years in his first spell as NUFC manager, and you claim he won nothing.
You seem to fancy yourself an intellectual (bromidic? learn a new word this afternoon?), but you manage to miss the point entirely, apparently judging Keegan by his outfit and hairstyle. The man wins football matches by attacking and refuses to back down regardless of opponent; Geordies will love him forever for those things, even if he looks like the manager of a middle school squad. I only mention his appearance because that is the only thing I can think of that would lead you to label him “incapable.” Good to hear your grades at University are solid, good luck in the real world you Scouser piece of S***.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Valle- I agree with you 100%, ROB have another look around and maybe your thick head will realize that I am a very passionate die-hard Newcastle fan that lives in GIBRALTAR!!! If you haven’t heard of it you can get an idea of how big Newcastle is and how far Newcastle supporters spread all around the world. We too have a Toon Bar dedicated solely to the Toon! We even have a local football team named after Newcastle United and have the official strip!!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
As a geordie who lives and works in Liverpool I find it strange that this lad has given the toon a kicking. I know alot of Evertonians (real Liverpool) and they don’t go off like that. Nice blokes that like their football and beers pre and post match with a team they hate over the river (does this sound familiar!)We are more alike than most supporters. I think the lad that wrote the origional thread needs to keep off the alcopops and keep studying for his A-Levels.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Yeah sorry ROB some1 said it before but We Newcastle fans are everywhere!!! EVEN GIBRALTAR!! lol
May 13th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Halla at last someone talking sense. No one will win this argument. Me, an Evertonian will point out 9 league titles, 125yrs in top flight, most points in top flight, etc… and say we are a bigger club. Newcastle will say, 55,000 attendance, better gound etc.. there bigger.
End of the day no one will give up and any other fan reading this will be pissing themselves on how sad both proud clubs are. Go back 20 yrs efc wouldnt even give newcastle a 2nd glance - about 10 yrs ago probably vice versa
As for the jibes of capital of culture, we have loads of culture and history: The Beatles, LIverpool Tate Gallery, multi culture society, 2 yes 2 fotball clubs…blah blah
As for Newcastle - I like Geordies - good luck to u all - never met a bad one.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Oh, I forgot to mention I’m a Toon supporter currently living in Minnesota, for whoever claims that NUFC doesn’t have fans away from Tyneside.
May 13th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
No need to question them mate, when points are well made whats to argue. I’m a football supporter, not an idiot. Who knows what we’ll win(and I mean that collectively here considering the support) and what we won’t, hell I’d hardly have put my money on Greece winning the last Euro..or this years FA cup being contested by none of the top 4.
(not aimed at you Alba) One point I would like to make though in this “your supports over-rated, look back at your history-where were your supporters then” malarkey is this.
In a
