Seasons Ratings

Posted on 13 May 2008

Howard - 8 - made some top saves this season and inspires confidence in the defence. Definately one of the best in the league

Wessels - 6 - wasnt bad cover but is ridiculed for his performance agaisnt oldham

Baines - 6.5 - started brightly but injury and the form of his defensive counterparts has left him with limited chances

Valente - 6 - good back up, done reasonably well in the few games he has played

Lescott - 9 - immense at the back and 10 goals fro a defender is superb, has had to play in a few different roles as well inluding as a forward

Jagielka - 8.5 - started off like a lost boy but found himself when he was given his chance at centre half, has been a rock at the back since december

Yobo - 7.5 - been solid at the back as per

Neville - 6.5 - consistent right back, woeful midfielder.

Hibbert - 6 - done well in a few games like man city but has shown that he really isnt good enough for a european team

Pienaar - 8.5 - given us anoyther dimension in midfield, lots of assists, intelligent movement and basing and possibly the bargain of the season. His form went after ACN or his rating would be higher

Osman - 8.5 - cracking season for Ossie, especially after hisx poor form previous year. Quite a few goals from mifield and has found his best position in central midfield. Also scored the goal of the season vs Larissa

Carsley - 7 - bren a solid season for Lee but at times his lack of ability and mobility has hindered us. But is always reliable

Cahill - 7.5 - his return from injury in october coincided with our unbeaten run and he has scored some valuable goals

Gravesen - 5 - changed the game agasint Bolton on his second debut but has shown since that his legs have gone and is unfortunately useless

Arteta - 6.5 - hasnt lived up to his previous form but that was mainly down to injury, but he still played well when the team was on form

Fernandes - 6.5 - hasnt lived up to the hype of last year but has still shown that he has more natural abiloity than any of our players

Yakubu - 8.5 - despite a goal on his debut his form was poor at the start of the season, but he found hi form in mid season and s did the blues. His power and lethal finishing have guided the blues to 5th

Johnson - 6.5 - given his al as usual but only 6 goals in the league isnt good enough

Anichebe - 7 - for his UEFA goals alone, otherwise he has been quite poor, only 19 though remember

Vaughan - 6 - been blighted by injuries but has shown what he is capable of when he got a chance to play

Stubbs - 7 - his form was solid when he was here and was a great servant ot the club

McFadden - 6.5 - had some good form early on in te season and his goal agaisnt metalist saved us from another embarassing early european exit, but he struggled to command a place in the side from there on in

Moyes - 8.5 - we’ve finished higher than last year and have played some really good football at times, he has also been ambitious in his signings of Yakubu, Baines and Fernandes.

Over to you!

6.5 for Arteta? What have you been watching. He was MOM most games up to xmas (even 5-live pundits were raving about him!!), though has struggled a bit with injuries since. Even so, only Jags, lescott, Yobo and Carsley have been better than him all season.
