Everton go into a very tricky away tie away at Middlesbrough, and the first day of the new year, having lost their last game 4-1 to Arsenal, even when they arguably played the better football. To make it worse for Everton, they are missing Mikel Arteta after he received a three game ban for his “elbow” on Cesc Fabregas. Leighton Baines is a possibility to feature, along with Alan Stubbs, who should both be fit for this match; although they may have to be content with a place on the bench.
Everton have struggled over the festive period, and, have struggled to get a result on New Years Day, but both managers will be hoping their side can pick up three points today. Everton currently hold 6th place in the table, compared to Middlesbrough who are currently in 14th in the Premier League. This is the first game for the Yak against his former employers, and he will be hoping to knock in a hat-trick of two.
Everton have been made odds on by the Bookies to win this one; will the Blues bounce back from the Arsenal match? How long will be go unbeaten in 2008 - I reckon until the 8th!
