A tense, make or break game for the Blues looms. A victory would not only secure that 5th place spot which is almost within reach, but would also define how we look back on the season. Although a 6th place finish would represent good consistency, it would be accompanied by feelings of disappointment due to the fact that at one point we were so close to stealing that sacred 4th spot off our dear rivals, a feat which Kevin Keegan has admitted he aspires to.
The team will more than likely be glad that this is the final test; injuries have been sapping at their strength for the last few weeks, and today is no different - influential midfielder Mikel Arteta is definitely on the absence list, while fitness tests will be handed to several unidentified players.
Despite the importance of 5th place, whatever happens today, Everton have certainly had an excellent season, and credit must go to David Moyes - most fans at Goodison today will be hoping that his contract is sorted out as soon as possible, we don’t want this match to be his swansong.
