A very depleted Everton squad managed to grab a 0-0 draw with Tottenham at Goodison Park. An amazingly dull match from two teams well known for their attacking prowess, ended in a bore draw, with Andy Johnson managing to miss the best chance of the game midway through the second half.
Jonathan Woodgate produced a man of the match performance in his debut in a Tottenham shirt, quietly and efficiently stopping Andy Johnson from getting many opportunities. Everton brought back Leighton Baines after 2 months out, deploying him as a left midfielder, where he flourished. Although normally a Left-Back, he is better known for his wing play, which worked perfectly in a midfield role.
Everton squad was so depleted that Andy Van De Meyde and Anderson De Silva had to take a place on the bench, after only having reserve experience so far this season. With Cahill and Osman also out , Everton looking void of any real threat, although they did have the best of the action throughout the match.
