Manuel Fernandes is desperate to impress in the last few games of the season. The Portuguese midfielder started the game against Derby on Sunday and created the only goal of the game for Leon Osman. But afterwards he conceded that things haven’t gone as well as he’d hoped during his second spell with Everton.

Leon Osman has set himself a ten-goal target this season. Ossie netted against Derby at the weekend to bring his season’s tally to seven. And with five games to go, the Academy graduate is keen on reaching double figures.

David Moyes is optimistic his side can still overhaul Liverpool. The Blues’ 1-0 win over Derby saw them move three points behind their local rivals in the fight for a Champions League place. Liverpool had drawn 1-1 at Arsenal on Saturday and the manager is hopeful of catching the Reds, but was also keen to point to his side’s achievements this term.

Everton manager David Moyes is waiting for a response from the Goodison Park board after issuing his contract demands. The Toffees boss has held discussions with chairman Bill Kenwright as he looks to settle his future.

David Moyes has refused to accept that Everton have lost the battle for fourth spot in the Barclays Premier League to Liverpool as he revealed more “quality” players will be brought in for next season’s campaign. Everton have been hit by injuries to Andrew Johnson, Tim Cahill and James Vaughan over recent weeks, and the lack of resources has contributed to their current record of one point from three games.

Former Blue Alan Stubbs has backed Everton to battle to the death for a fourth place finish. His new club, Derby County, visit Goodison on Sunday and he is in no doubt how important the contest is for his former teammates.

David Moyes is urging Manuel Fernandes to show his best form in the last six games of the season. Fernandes returned to Goodison in January, following a successful loan spell that began 12 months before. But injuries have hampered his second spell on Merseyside, and the manager is hoping the Portuguese can show his best form in the last six games - and force him into considering a longer deal for the midfielder.

Mikel Arteta’s agent has hinted that the midfielder could leave Everton to boost his chances of breaking into the Spain team. Arteta has never been capped at international level and Inaki Ibanez believes the only reason is that he does not play for one of the top clubs in Europe.

Tim Cahill insists he will be fully fit for the start of pre-season training despite suffering a third serious foot injury in just over a year. Everton’s Australia international has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a broken foot in the early stages of the 1-1 draw with West Ham on 22nd March.
