Fernandes Wants Everton Stay

Manuel Fernandes is desperate to impress in the last few games of the season. The Portuguese midfielder started the game against Derby on Sunday and created the only goal of the game for Leon Osman. But afterwards he conceded that things haven’t gone as well as he’d hoped during his second spell with Everton.

Fernandes returned to Goodison in January, following a successful loan spell that began 12 months before. But injuries have hampered his second spell on Merseyside, and the manager is hoping the Portuguese can show his best form in the last six games - and force him into considering a longer deal for the midfielder.

Tim Cahill insists he will be fully fit for the start of pre-season training despite suffering a third serious foot injury in just over a year. Everton’s Australia international has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a broken foot in the early stages of the 1-1 draw with West Ham on 22nd March.
